J.S. Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria
This famous piece consists of a melody (and harmony part) written by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod superimposed over J.S. Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, from Book I of The Well-Tempered Clavier, written 137 years earlier. Birchwood's version repeats the piece a second time, switching the music in the violin parts so that each violinist has an opportunity to perform Gounod's beautiful melody.
