Marc-Antoine Charpentier: Prelude to Te Deum

Charpentier composed his Te Deum, a grand polyphonic motet for vocal solists, chorus and orchestra sometime between 1688 and 1698. It is thought that the composition was performed to mark the victory celebrations of the Battle of Steinkirk. The Prelude (subtitled Marche en rondeau) is joyous piece, a fitting opening to any concert.
