Edvard Grieg: Ballad
Grieg's piano work Ballad is the fifth of his Lyric Pieces, op. 65, composed in 1896. The work lends itself beautifully to the string orchestra medium, and reminds us of his original works for string orchestra, such as the Two Elegiac Melodies, op. 34, and the Two Melodies, op. 53.
